Major hot dog chain expands its presence in the United States by announcing plans to open branches in specific Walmart outlets this autumn.

Giant hot dog restaurant chain teams up with Walmart.

Hot dog chain, Wienerschnitzel, to open six restaurants within select Walmart stores this fall. The partnering retail giant will host the new sites in Alamogordo, NM; Bakersfield, CA; Colorado Springs, CO; Puyallup, WA; Reno, NV; and Tempe, AZ.

This strategic move aims to expand Wienerschnitzel's footprint, particularly in the Eastern U.S., as the world's largest hot dog chain pushes forward. The initiative marks a new era of growth for the brand, according to Shak Turner, Wienerschnitzel's director of franchise expansion.

Menu selections at the Walmart-based restaurants will encompass fan-favorite items like Chili Cheese Dogs, Junkyard Dogs, chili cheese fries, jalapeño poppers, and Tastee Freez deserts. The brand boasts approximately 340 locations throughout 13 states, with over 50 units in development. As of yet, there's no word on whether Walmart and Wienerschnitzel plan to expand their partnership beyond these six outlets.

Walmart welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with potential tenants such as Wienerschnitzel, having previously partnered with brands like Burger King, McDonald's, Taco Bell, and Subway. The partnership is just one of several changes the retailer will undergo this year, which also includes the $9 billion overhaul of 1,400 stores, added convenience stores at fuel stations, a revamped delivery system, and a revised logo deemed somewhat unimpressive by shoppers.

In addition to the changes at Walmart, Wienerschnitzel has recently partnered with Presto Phoenix for AI-driven voice ordering technology and has signed new franchise agreements. However, it remains unclear whether the tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump will impact menu prices at the new locations. DailyMail.com has reached out to Wienerschnitzel for comment regarding the partnership and its potential effects.
