Kezia Williams Takes the Helm at Universal Pictures International UK and Ireland
Kezia Williams has been appointed as the Managing Director for Universal Pictures International (UPI) in the UK and Ireland, marking a return to the company after more than a decade. With over 20 years of experience in film distribution and marketing, Williams brings a wealth of expertise to her new role.
Before joining UPI, Williams honed her skills at Entertainment One, where she rose through the ranks from head of marketing and distribution to Managing Director of the UK film business. During her tenure, she oversaw major integrated marketing campaigns for blockbuster films such as "1917," "The BFG," "The Girl on the Train," and "Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves."
Prior to Entertainment One, Williams spent five years on UPI's marketing team, contributing to successful campaigns that included the launch of "Despicable Me" in 2010. This previous stint at UPI sets the stage for her current leadership role.
In her new position, Williams will be responsible for managing sales, marketing, publicity, and finance for UPI in the UK and Ireland. She will work closely with the heads of marketing, finance, legal, acquisitions, and human resources, and report directly to Paul Higginson, the executive vice president, EMEA for Universal Pictures International.
Higginson expressed confidence in Williams' ability to lead the UK and Ireland teams and improve operational excellence. Rob Huber, the former UK Managing Director of UPI, who had been in the role since 2015 and previously spent 16 years at 20th Century Fox, has recently left the company.
As Williams prepares to take the reins, "Dog Man" has topped the UK-Ireland box office, earning £3.2m. Other top films in the region include "Macbeth" and "September 5." Williams will oversee day-to-day operations in the UK and Ireland, aiming to continue UPI's success in the region.
