While the Treasury managed to tighten its belt in May, the picture for the January-May period presents a different scenario. For those five months, the Treasury reported a deficit of $21.4 billion. Over that period, revenues reached $122.3 billion, while expenditures soared to $144.1 billion.

The USD-TRY exchange rate, on May 30, stood firm at a rate of 39.19 TRY per dollar.

Insight: Surprisingly, April 2025 saw a deficit of $183.5 billion, a significant improvement from the previous month. The dramatic turnaround in May, however, resulted in a substantial surplus of $6.3 billion, indicating a strong rebound in the Treasury's financial health. [Sources: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
