Grain markets holding steady this Thursday morning
Corn prices have taken a small hit in recent days, with the current Thursday morning price seeing fractional losses. Dec 25 Corn closed at $4.26 3/4, down 2 3/4 cents, and is currently down 1/4 cent. This trend continued on Wednesday, with futures for various front months closing at a loss of 2 to 3 cents.
The CmdtyView national average Cash Corn price is also feeling the pinch, currently standing at $3.82 1⁄4, down 2 3/4 cents. Nearby Cash Corn closed at the same price on May 26. May 26 Corn is currently unchanged.
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has recently made a forecast regarding the amount of grain sales in the USA for the 2025/26 period. According to the USDA's Export Sales report, the estimated sales could range between 0.5 to 1.9 MMT in the week ending on September 11.
Meanwhile, the ethanol market has seen some shifts. Refiner inputs of ethanol increased by 42,000 bpd to 922,000 bpd, while ethanol production decreased by 50,000 barrels per day in the same week, ending on September 12, to 1.055 million barrels per day. Ethanol stocks currently stand at 22.602 million barrels, down 235,000 barrels.
Canada's corn production for this year is estimated to be 15.5 MMT, up 1% from a year ago and near the August estimate.
