Growing public understanding of the firefighting profession
In Frankfurt am Main, the German Firefighters' Association (DFV) and the industry association VDMA Firefighting Technology have reaffirmed their joint commitment to heighten public awareness of firefighting. This partnership was announced towards the end of May during the DFV's event in Berlin.
Safety through Fire Departments
One key aspect of their public outreach is the German Firefighting Museum in Fulda, which welcomes more than 25,000 visitors annually. According to Karl-Heinz Banse, President of the DFV, the museum beautifully illustrates the significance of firefighting and fire protection across history and the present. Museum Director Bernd Müller-Strauß adds that the museum offers a captivating and multifaceted portrayal of how helping in emergencies has evolved through time.
With current events emphasizing the importance of maintaining emergency preparedness, the DFV's goal of raising public awareness of fire protection becomes even more crucial. Banse stated, "Fire departments play a vital role in ensuring public safety, and their capabilities are something we should continuously endeavor to improve."
Firefighting Technology as an Enabler
A functional and goal-oriented fire department relies on a robust operational firefighting technology industry. Martin Zaindl, Chairman of VDMA Firefighting Technology, explained that the association has long supported institutions like the German Firefighting Museum for their role in fostering encounters and knowledge transfer within the sector.
As technological innovation shapes the future of fire protection, the VDMA Firefighting Technology division actively collaborates with companies and policymakers to ensure safety and innovation go hand-in-hand. Zaindl stated, "We pride ourselves on being the technological enablers for the firefighting sector, and this partnership with the German Firefighters' Association underscores our mutual commitment to advancing fire protection in Germany and beyond."
