GWM's Brazil factory commences car manufacturing, boasting an output of 50,000 vehicles yearly.
Great Wall Motor (GWM) has marked a significant milestone in its global expansion by launching production at its new factory in Iracemápolis, São Paulo, Brazil on August 15, 2025 13. The factory, previously owned by Mercedes-Benz (Daimler AG), was acquired by GWM in 2021 135.
The Brazilian factory will serve as GWM's third full-process vehicle manufacturing center outside China, strategically positioned to cater to Latin American markets such as Mexico, Argentina, and Chile 3. The facility boasts welding, painting, and assembly workshops, spanning over a total area of 1.2 million square meters, with a building area of 94,000 square meters 2.
The initial annual production capacity of the Brazil plant is set at 30,000 to 50,000 vehicles, with plans to increase capacity to 50,000 and eventually up to 100,000 vehicles per year by 2028 135. The models produced at the Brazil plant include the Haval H6 SUV (including the H6 GT variant), the Haval H9 SUV, and the Poer 2.4T pickup truck 135.
In the first half of this year, GWM sold 15,700 vehicles in Brazil, marking a year-on-year increase of 19.8 percent 135. The factory's production is expected to shorten delivery cycles, further boosting sales in the region.
GWM's expansion into Brazil comes shortly after the launch of BYD's passenger vehicle plant in Brazil on July 1 13. With over 1,400 overseas sales channels, GWM's products are now sold in more than 170 countries and regions, with cumulative sales exceeding 2 million units 135.
In July, GWM sold 104,372 cars, with New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) contributing 33% of the total sales 1. The company's continued growth and strategic expansion reflect its commitment to meeting the evolving needs of its global customer base.
- By 2028, the annual production capacity at Great Wall Motor's (GWM) Brazil factory may reach up to 100,000 vehicles, representing an increase from the initial 30,000 to 50,000 vehicles set as the factory's capacity when launched in 2025.
