HELROM Launches Innovative Block Train Service for Audi's Sustainability Goals

HELROM, a rail-freight and technology company, has launched a pioneering block train service between Regensburg and Lébény. The service, using HELROM's patented Trailer Wagon, began operations on April 4, after just 11 months of planning and implementation. This innovation aligns with Audi's sustainability goals, including its Mission:Zero programme.

The service eliminates the need for loading terminals, streamlining route planning. It uses the patented Helrom Trailer Wagon, enabling barrier-free loading of all types of road trailers onto rail wagons and back. The train, covering 1,000 km in 24 hours, carries the equivalent of 72 trucks' worth of cargo per trip, significantly reducing CO2 emissions. Audi, aiming to be net carbon neutral by next year and carbon neutral by 2050, stands to benefit greatly from this service, with an estimated 11,500 tons of CO2 emissions taken off roads annually.

The HELROM-Audi block train service, with its efficient use of the patented Trailer Wagon and elimination of loading terminals, is set to become a key player in reducing emissions in logistics. With Audi's commitment to sustainability, this partnership is poised to make a substantial impact on the company's and the industry's carbon footprint.
