High-End Market Sector Welcomes Liberty Specialty Markets
Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), a division of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has strategically entered the UK High Net Worth (HNW) market in July 2025. This expansion is marked by the appointment of Benjamin Faerestrand as UK High Net Worth Household Underwriter, based in London.
The new appointment is effective immediately, and Faerestrand reports to James Garthwaite, Senior Underwriter for Fine Art & Specie (FAS) at LSM. According to Garthwaite, this move is a pivotal moment for Liberty as they expand their existing FAS offering in the UK through entering the HNW market.
Faerestrand brings nearly 15 years of industry experience to his role. His experience includes roles in London, a location where he will be based for his new role at LSM. Faerestrand has worked across regional hubs including London, Colchester, and York. He previously held the role of Strategic Account and Team Manager at Chubb, which indicates a background in high net worth insurance, potentially relevant to his new role at LSM.
In his new role, Faerestrand will work closely with LSM's FAS teams in Europe and the US to strengthen Liberty's capabilities for HNW clients with international needs. The Lloyd's proposition will be delivered primarily via the Lloyd's platform across both open market and delegated authority channels.
Faerestrand's responsibilities include defining and executing the UK HNW business plan, including underwriting guidelines, product development, broker relationship management, and new business development. His deep expertise in underwriting and client relationship management will contribute to the underwriting and client relationship management aspects of his new role at LSM.
The strategic entry into the UK HNW market aims to build a differentiated Lloyd’s proposition for the UK HNW segment. Faerestrand is based in London and will be responsible for the UK HNW business plan, including the development of underwriting guidelines, products, broker relationship management, and new business development.
