Highest-Priced Movie Since 2015: Not 'Mission' Starring Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise's action-packed blockbuster, Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, boasts a hefty $400 million production budget - a substantial sum, but not the most expensive movie ever made in the past decade.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the costs associated with the film's production were inflated due to factors like the COVID-19 pandemic, strikes, and a bit of good fortune in the form of tax incentives.

While expensive, the film's budget is dwarfed by two other cinematic behemoths in the past decade.

In the realm of prehistoric adventures, 2018's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom had a production budget of an eye-popping $432 million, according to Forbes. Despite the hefty price tag, the film managed to earn a staggering $1.3 billion worldwide.

Not to be outdone, 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens was another budget galactic juggernaut with a whopping $447 million production budget. This film also reigned supreme at the box office, grossing a mind-boggling $2.056 billion globally.

It's worth noting that while Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released in 2015, it might be included in discussions of the most expensive films in the past ten years since it premiered within the last decade. If we extend our considerations beyond the strict 10-year limit, this legendary space saga could be counted as the third film with a higher production budget than The Final Reckoning.

As for The Final Reckoning's box office performance, it's off to a solid start, having grossed $363 million worldwide, but its final earnings remain to be determined, as well as the marketing costs associated with the film.

The production budget of Tom Cruise's 'Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning' was dwarfed by that of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens', which, despite being released in 2015, is considered one of the most expensive movies in the past decade with a budget of $447 million. Moreover, the business expenses of 'Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning' and other popular movies like 'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom', with a production budget of $432 million, can be found in the finance sector of movies-and-tv, part of the entertainment industry.
