Holy Trinity Church in Sibford Goes Net Zero with Electric Under-Pew Heaters
Holy Trinity Church in Sibford has successfully transitioned to low-carbon heating, replacing its oil-fired boiler with electric under-pew heaters. The project, supported by multiple grants, aims to make the church building net zero carbon and reduce heating costs.
The church received a significant boost from the Boiler Replacement Hardship Grant Fund, which contributed $25,000 towards the new heaters. The total cost of the under-pew heaters amounted to $50,000. David Gill, the church treasurer, advised proactivity in managing heating systems to prevent unexpected failures and meet net zero targets.
The Church of England's Net Zero 2030 Program provided a grant to fund the replacement, aligning with its goal to help churches reduce carbon emissions from their buildings and transport by 2030. The church also secured grants from four different sources to cover the cost of the new heaters. Grants of up to $58,000 are available to cover the difference in cost between a low-carbon heating solution and replacing a failed or failing oil/gas system.
Holy Trinity Church in Sibford has successfully made the switch to low-carbon heating, thanks to a combination of grants from various sources. The new electric under-pew heaters are expected to make the church building net zero carbon and reduce heating costs, contributing to a more sustainable future.
