Illegal Workers Found at Frankfurt Solar Park
On May 20, 2025, a routine inspection at a solar park construction site in Frankfurt (Oder) led to a significant discovery. The Main Customs Office found 11 Ukrainian workers employed illegally, breaching their tourist residence permits issued in Slovakia or Poland.
The inspection revealed that the workers had been employed despite their temporary residence permits only allowing them to stay in Germany for tourism. Their passports and residence permits were confiscated, and each suspect was questioned. A security deposit was collected from each individual.
The immigration authority will now handle further case processing. This involves reviewing the workers' immigration status and determining the appropriate course of action. The head of the immigration authority associated with the case is yet to be named publicly.
The illegal employment of these workers has made their stay in Germany unlawful. The immigration authority will now manage their case, ensuring they comply with German immigration laws. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to residence permit conditions.
