India's Noida & Navi Mumbai Airports Set for Inauguration This Month
India is set to unveil two major airport projects this month, aiming to cater to increasing air travel demand and alleviate congestion at existing facilities. Noida International Airport (NIA) in Delhi NCR and Navi Mumbai International Airport in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) are poised to commence operations under the watchful eyes of high-ranking officials.
Noida International Airport, developed by Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL), will be inaugurated on October 30 by Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu. The airport has already attracted interest from prominent airlines such as Air India Group, IndiGo, and Akasa Air, which have begun tie-ups for operations. Meanwhile, Navi Mumbai International Airport, a 74:26 joint venture between Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL) and City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO), will be inaugurated on October 8 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Both airports are being developed to accommodate growing air travel demand and ease congestion at existing airports.
Navi Mumbai International Airport has received an aerodrome license from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and is expected to serve 90 million passengers per annum (MPPA) and handle 3.2 million metric tons (MMT) of cargo annually upon full completion. Noida International Airport is also nearing completion, with most infrastructure in place and an aerodrome license expected soon. Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani recently inspected final preparations for Noida International Airport ahead of its inauguration.
The inaugurations of Noida International Airport and Navi Mumbai International Airport mark significant milestones in India's aviation sector. These new mega airports, developed to meet growing demand and ease congestion, are set to enhance connectivity and boost economic growth in their respective regions.
