Infinity Intends to Boost Showroom Visits by Introducing Three Limited Versions of the QX80
Infiniti Unveils Three Limited Editions of the QX80 SUV
Infiniti is set to release three limited editions of its QX80 SUV, aiming to attract new buyers and boost showroom traffic for the brand. The new editions, which will be unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance later this month, will also make their debut at the SEMA show in November.
The first limited edition is the Track Spec, a high-performance variant designed to compete with SUVs like the Cadillac Escalade V and BMW X7 M60i. This model will feature upgraded brakes, reworked suspension parts, and beefier tires on smaller wheel diameters. It is expected to deliver at least 550 horsepower, an increase from the current engine's power.
The second limited edition is the Terrain Spec, designed to improve the SUV's off-road capabilities. This model will feature a locking differential, increased ground clearance, protection plates, rugged body protection elements, and roof storage solutions for overlanding expeditions.
The third variant, set to be unveiled at the SEMA show in November, is aimed at tuners and is considered a concept showcasing what is possible with the QX80. This model is described as a potential offspring of the GT-R and QX80. While no further details were provided about this third variant, it is expected to feature a lower ride height and a unique powertrain.
Infiniti may add either or both of the QX80 Track Spec and Terrain Spec as regular production variants to the lineup. The company has not yet confirmed the exact number of units that will be manufactured, but it is suggested that they could produce 500 or 1,000 units, depending on customer interest.
The Infiniti QX80 GT-R inspired limited edition model, expected to be unveiled at the SEMA show in November, features an upgraded powertrain delivering over 650 horsepower and over 750 lb-ft of torque with stock internals, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. This output surpasses that of a Nissan GT-R.
The QX80 Track Spec and Terrain Spec will be unveiled in concept form at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance later this month, with production variants expected within the next 12 months. This move follows a significant presence of tuners involved with Infiniti products, particularly with the FX series of crossovers in the mid to late 2000s.
