Infrastructure debt platform, Ares, strengthens with fresh staff additions
**Ares Management Expands Infrastructure Debt Platform in Asia-Pacific**
Ares Management, a leading global alternative investment manager, is strengthening its presence in the Asia-Pacific region through the growth of its infrastructure debt platform. The strategy aims to capitalise on the significant opportunities presented by the region's demographic trends and industry megatrends.
The company has appointed Jon Plavnick as a partner in New York to focus on infrastructure debt investments in the Americas. Plavnick, with nearly two decades of experience in infrastructure debt, joins Ares after serving as a partner at Global Infrastructure Partners, which was acquired by BlackRock last year.
Meanwhile, Ares has also relocated Spencer Ivey, a partner and the head of Americas and Asia-Pacific Infrastructure Debt, to its Sydney office. Ivey's move to Sydney signifies a strategic shift to accelerate the growth of Ares' infrastructure debt strategy in the Asia-Pacific region, leveraging his expertise and familiarity with the market.
Ivey, originally from Australia, has been instrumental in leading Ares' infrastructure debt growth from New York over the past decade. His relocation to Sydney will enable him to focus on expanding Ares' presence in the region, providing tailored financial solutions to support infrastructure developments.
Ares is utilising its robust global Credit platform to provide differentiated solutions for infrastructure needs in the Asia-Pacific region. The company's infrastructure debt platform, which manages nearly $11bn (£8.1bn) in assets, provides financing solutions to businesses and assets across the digital, transport, energy, and utility sectors.
In addition to Plavnick and Ivey, Ares has made other key appointments to strengthen its global infrastructure debt team. Brent Canada was appointed as a partner in New York in 2022, and Daniel Katz was appointed head of portfolio management for Ares infrastructure debt in 2024, overseeing portfolio monitoring and restructuring.
Patrick Trears, partner and global head of Ares infrastructure debt, stated that the company has continued to enhance the positioning of its infrastructure debt platform. With the addition of experienced leaders like Plavnick, Canada, and Katz, and strategic positioning in key markets like New York, Sydney, and London, Ares is well-positioned to capitalise on the opportunities in the infrastructure debt market.
Ares Management has also appointed Lorenzo Ceretti as a partner in London in 2023 to focus on infrastructure debt investments in Europe. With its expanded global infrastructure debt team and strategic positioning, Ares is poised for growth in the infrastructure debt market, both in the Americas and the Asia-Pacific region.
