In the bustling city of Shanghai, Lifan Motor has unveiled a new addition to their vehicle lineup at the Shanghai Auto Show. The automaker revealed the Lifan SUV, a new model that is set to enter the market on September 21.
The Lifan SUV will offer two engine options: a 1.6 and a 1.8, with the transmission options including manual, auto, and CVT for the 1.8 engine. The sizes of the new SUV are 4550mm in length, 1705mm in width, and 1495mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2600mm.
The 1.6 engine produces 78kw and 137nm, while the 1.8 engine boasts a more powerful output of 100kw and 172nm. The pre-sale price for the Lifan SUV is expected to start around 100,000 rmb (approximately 18,400 USD).
It's worth noting that the Lifan 7, another SUV model, was also showcased at the Shanghai Auto Show. However, the Lifan 7 and the Lifan SUV are different models, and the Lifan 7 does not seem to follow the simple, straightforward naming strategy that Lifan Motor may adopt for future SUV models.
Lifan Motor, known for producing small hatchbacks and medium sedans, has identified a growing market opportunity in SUVs, particularly in China, where these vehicles are more profitable. The company's decision to enter the SUV market with the Lifan SUV reflects this strategic shift.
While the Lifan SUV's entry into the market is imminent, the Lifan 7 is set to debut on September 21. The specifics about the Lifan 7, such as its size, engine options, transmission, and prices, have not been disclosed at this time.
As Lifan Motor continues to expand its product offerings, it's clear that the automaker is committed to creating distinctive vehicles that cater to the evolving needs of the market. The arrival of the Lifan SUV is just the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Lifan Motor.
