Judge Launches Probe Into Teleassistance Handling During Valencia Floods

A judge has launched a wide-ranging investigation into the handling of teleassistance services during recent floods in Valencia. The probe seeks information from multiple agencies, including the Security and Emergencies Agency, Valencia Diputación, Valencia City Council, and the Conselleria of Equality. The Public Prosecutor's Office has requested access to call recordings involving 37 deceased users.

The judge has denied a petition to request an informative report from the Security and Emergencies Agency regarding access to certain websites before the floods. Instead, they have sought information from the Valencia Diputación and City Council about tender files for the teleassistance service and preventive measures protocols.

Specifically, the judge has requested the list of users who died in the flood from the Conselleria of Equality. The teleassistance service generated hundreds of call records during the flood, but none explicitly mentioned the weather situation. The judge has also requested the protocols of action established to safeguard users' physical integrity and written orders sent to the service provider to adopt preventive measures.

Aemet has been requested to provide an informative report on consultations made by the Conselleria of Equality and Social Services regarding meteorological forecasts on the critical days. The judge has denied the petition to cite Miguel P.C., president of the Confederación Hidrográfica del Júcar, as an investigated person in the case.

The investigation aims to clarify the circumstances surrounding the deaths of 37 dependent persons attended by teleassistance during the floods. The judge has requested comprehensive information from various entities to shed light on the events and ensure accountability.
