Kaarster flower district spotlighted in energy renovation initiatives - Kaarst takes proactive measures

The city of Kaarst, Germany, has taken a significant step towards sustainable urban development with the commissioning of The Innovation City Management GmbH (ICM) from Bottrop to create and implement the Integrated Energy Quarter Concept (IEQK). This initiative forms part of the city's commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting energy-efficient living.

The IEQK focuses on renovating existing buildings to improve energy efficiency, coordinating energy usage across buildings with smart technologies, and integrating decentralized renewable energy sources. The aim is to create a model neighbourhood that drastically lowers carbon emissions by reducing energy demand and switching energy supply to renewables.

The first event in the series "Energy Saving Offensive" will take place on Wednesday, February 7, at 7 p.m., at the Albert Einstein Forum, Am Schulzentrum 16. The event, titled "Energetically renovate - From basement to roof," will provide diverse information about the project and funding opportunities. Property owners from the project area are invited to attend and learn more about the IEQK.

In addition, ICM is conducting an online survey to learn about the needs and renovation plans of the owners in the project area. The survey aims to gather satisfaction levels with one's own property and determine the need for consultation. The results of the survey will be incorporated into the concept development for the integrated energy quarter.

For those who cannot attend the event, registrations can be made online at www.kaarst.de/blumenviertel or by phone at 0800 / 4 62 36 00. The renovation office is open to property owners every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

In a statement, Carsten Tum, Managing Director of ICM, emphasized the importance of cooperation for the energy transition. Mayor Ursula Baum also emphasized that Kaarst takes climate protection seriously, improving the climate balance and local quality of life with every modernized existing building.

As part of the event, the city will draw a total of ten culture and DIY store vouchers worth up to 100 euros among all participants. These vouchers are provided by the Kaarst Stadtwerke.

By participating in the IEQK, Kaarst is setting an example for sustainable urban development and demonstrating its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting energy-efficient living. For more detailed information about the IEQK in Kaarst, Germany, including specific renovation measures and emission reduction targets, official project documentation or local government sources would provide the most authoritative information.
