Kazakhstan's Wage Trends Mixed in Q3 2025: Almaty, Nur-Sultan Decline, Kostanay Rises

Wages in Kazakhstan's major cities have seen a mixed performance in Q3 2025. While some cities like Almaty and Nur-Sultan saw decreases, others like Kostanay and Pavlodar showed positive growth.

Wage trends in Kazakhstan's cities show mixed results for the third quarter of 2025, according to HeadHunter analysts. While some cities experienced increases, others saw significant drops.

Almaty, the country's commercial hub, finds itself in second place with a median proposed salary of 274,422 tenge. This marks an 8.3% decrease from the previous year. Meanwhile, Nur-Sultan, the capital, retains its lead with a median salary of 280,013 tenge, despite a 6.4% decrease.

Atyrau witnessed the most substantial decline, with median wages dropping by 20.4% to 193,819 tenge. Unfortunately, current data for the salary calculator for the third quarter of 2025 is not publicly available for Atyrau.

Other cities reported positive wage dynamics. Taraz saw a 0.6% increase to 217,247 tenge. Pavlodar and Kokchetav also experienced increases, by 1.6% to 235,807 tenge and 1.3% to 232,956 tenge respectively. Kostanay showed a notable 6.3% increase to 255,431 tenge.

Overall, the median proposed salary in Kazakhstan for July-September was 268,970 tenge, a decrease of 2.9% compared to the same period last year. While some cities like Kostanay and Pavlodar showed positive wage growth, others like Almaty and Nur-Sultan experienced significant drops. The wage dynamics in Atyrau remain unclear due to unavailable data for the salary calculator for the third quarter of 2025.
