Kia experiences an 8% increase in July vehicle sales, with the Carens Clavis model driving the growth trend.
In the bustling Indian automotive market, Kia India is experiencing a surge in demand, with sales performance showing a notable improvement in 2025.
July 2025 sales figures reveal an 8% year-on-year increase, with the company selling 22,135 units compared to 20,507 units in the same month last year. This positive trend is reflected in the year-to-date sales, which have risen by 11.45%, reaching 163,439 units in 2025 compared to 146,644 units in 2024[1][2][3].
The Kia Seltos and the newly launched Carens Clavis, along with its electric variant, the Carens Clavis EV, have been the key contributors to this growth. The Seltos accounted for 55% of July sales, while the Carens Clavis and its electric counterpart have been well received for their features, comfort, and innovation[1][3][5]. The Carens Clavis EV, Kia’s first made-in-India mass-market EV, has been particularly noteworthy for its performance, range, and practicality.
Kia's focus on innovation and sustainable mobility is evident, with the company planning to expand its portfolio with accessible, eco-friendly vehicles tailored to Indian customers’ preferences. While specific new launches for 2025 have not been detailed, the success of the Carens Clavis EV suggests that future models might continue this trajectory toward electric and value-packed vehicles[1][3].
Joonso Cho, Chief Sales Officer of Kia India, stated that the steady sales performance reflects the trust Indian customers place in Kia. The company remains committed to delivering high-quality and feature-rich vehicles that meet evolving customer needs and creating accessible and innovative mobility solutions.
As Kia looks ahead, the new Syros subcompact SUV, an upcoming model, is expected to further bolster the company's presence in the Indian market. Meanwhile, Kia's exports in July 2025 remained flat with 2,590 units shipped overseas, similar to the 2,500 units shipped in July 2024[1][3].
In the competitive Indian automotive market, Kia continues to make waves with its focus on innovation, sustainability, and customer-centric vehicles. With the Carens Clavis EV leading the way, it will be interesting to see how Kia’s strategy evolves in the coming months.
