Labbé has assumed the position of President at the International Automobile Manufacturers Association

Imelda Labbé has made a significant mark in the automotive industry as she takes on the role of President for the Association of International Automakers (VDIK). This milestone marks a step forward in promoting gender diversity within the industry.

Labbé, a member of the Brand Board of Management for Sales, Marketing, and Aftersales at Volkswagen, has played a key role in shaping the company's approach to electric mobility. Her focus has been on meeting customer needs and integrating top-quality, software, and digital services in new electric vehicle models such as the ID. 2all[1].

With over 35 years of experience in the automotive industry, Labbé has held leadership positions both domestically and internationally. Before joining Volkswagen, she worked at Opel and General Motors for over 20 years. In 2013, she moved to Škoda within the VW group. From 2014 to 2016, she served as the CEO of Škoda Germany and was a member of the VDIK board.

Labbé succeeds André Schmidt, who has been leading the association since late August. This is the first time a woman has held the position of President in the history of the VDIK.

The VDIK, which represents international automakers, did not provide any information about Labbé's vision or strategy for the future of the automotive industry, immediate changes to its leadership structure, or specific goals and objectives for her presidency. However, Labbé's extensive experience and leadership skills are likely to contribute to her success in her new role.

The extensive experience and leadership skills garnered throughout her 35-year tenure in the automotive industry, combined with her achievements in finance and digital services, position Imelda Labbé to actively influence various sectors, including transportation and finance, in her new role as President of the VDIK. Amidst her focus on advancing electric mobility within the industry, it's plausible that Labbé's appointment will foster progressive changes and improvements in the finance and software sectors, consequently benefiting the overall automotive and transportation industries.
