Launch of Triumph Thrust 400 model in India today, here are the anticipated features
Triumph Motorcycles is set to expand its 400cc lineup with the arrival of the Triumph Thruxton 400. This new bike, set to hit Indian roads soon, differs notably from other Triumph bikes in design, features, and price.
Design and Features
The Thruxton 400 stands out as a cafe racer, contrasting the naked roadster style of the Speed 400 and the off-road styled Scrambler 400 X. The Thruxton features a half fairing (flyscreen), a round headlamp within the front apron, bar-end mirrors, clip-on handlebars that are 40mm narrower and 246mm lower, and a single-seat setup with a rear cowl.
While both the Thruxton and Speed 400 share the same 13-liter fuel tank capacity, the Thruxton boasts a more chiselled design. The rear subframe of the Thruxton has been modified to support its posture, with a fender on the rear seat and a redesigned taillight. The suspension offers 10mm extra travel front and rear, and the Thruxton uses Apollo Alpha H1 tires with profiles 110/70 front and 150/60 rear.
The Thruxton also features black-out upside-down front forks, replacing the gold-finished ones on the Speed 400.
Powertrain
Both the Thruxton 400 and the Speed 400 use the same 398cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. However, the Thruxton outputs slightly more power, with 41.4 to 42 hp at 9,000 rpm, compared to the Speed 400's 39 to 40 hp at 8,000 rpm. Torque remains the same at 37.5 Nm at 7,500 rpm. The Thruxton also boasts faster acceleration from 0-100 km/h, achieving this in approximately 6.7 seconds.
Pricing
The Thruxton 400 is expected to be priced at approximately ₹2.74 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the priciest bike in Triumph's 400cc stable in India. The Speed 400 will be slightly cheaper, with the exact price not specified but less than the Thruxton due to fewer features. The Scrambler 400 X is expected to be priced around or slightly above the Speed 400, not specified exactly for the current model.
Summary
The Triumph Thruxton 400 offers a unique blend of cafe racer styling and slightly enhanced performance compared to the Speed 400, all at a mid-range price for its segment. With its distinctive design, improved power output, and premium features, the Thruxton 400 is poised to make a strong impact in the Indian motorcycling market.
