Law firm Orbit unveils its newly created online platform

In the heart of Berlin, a new law firm named Orbit is set to make its mark in the German legal market. Scheduled to launch on August 16, 2021, Orbit will operate exclusively in fund law advisory services, offering a unique selling proposition that sets it apart from traditional full-service firms.

Orbit's USP lies in its comprehensive expertise in all legal, regulatory, and tax aspects of fund structuring and final closings tailored for venture capital and fund clients. The firm demonstrates particular strength in guiding sophisticated fund transactions, as evidenced by its work with Mätch VC on the successful final closing of their Fund I through integrated, specialized legal advisory across the entire fund lifecycle.

Key aspects of Orbit's USP include end-to-end advisory covering fund structuring, regulatory compliance, and tax matters. The firm's focus on fund law, particularly venture capital funds in Germany’s dynamic legal market, positions it as a boutique but deeply specialized alternative to larger generalist firms.

Orbit's team is led by experienced partners, including Simon Schachinger, Christian Hillebrand, Philipp Neidel, Joachim Mogck, and Philip Mostertz. Annegret Müller will hold the operational reins at Orbit.

The firm operates in the intersection of supervisory, tax, and corporate law issues related to fund products. Orbit anticipates high demand for advisory services in the area of alternative assets, such as private equity and private debt funds, real estate, and venture capital funds.

Interestingly, increasingly more pension funds and provident funds are expressing interest in creating their own fund portfolios. In this context, Orbit believes that a good fund lawyer must have a comprehensive view of all three legal disciplines to provide precise, efficient, and nuanced guidance that larger generalist firms may not match in this niche.

As the world of funds continues to evolve, Orbit is poised to offer a fresh perspective and specialized expertise, making complex fund transactions simpler and more accessible for clients navigating the ever-changing legal landscape.
