Library Shutdown: Cedar Rapids Downtown Branch Closed Indefinitely
In the heart of Cedar Rapids, a change has taken place at the public library. Roasters, a popular local cafe, opened its Library Edition at 450 Fifth Ave. SE in 2021, replacing the former Greyhound Cafe.
Under new ownership, Roasters brought a fresh breakfast menu to the library, offering patrons a delightful addition to their study and reading sessions. However, the cafe's run was short-lived. On July 31, 2021, Roasters Library Edition announced its closure.
Library patrons may have noticed an absence at the cafe's space on the ground floor since then. Despite the closure, Roasters continues to serve customers at its locations at NewBo City Market and 1059 N. Center Point Rd. in Hiawatha.
The exact reasons for the closure remain undisclosed, and the name of the new owner of Roasters Library Edition is not currently known. For the latest updates on the local restaurant scene, subscribe to the Chew on This newsletter.
