Rated List: Preferred Employers for Specialist Professionals - Listing: Employers Preferred by Skilled Professionals

In a shift reflecting continued demand for skilled workers, the Trendence market research institute has released exclusive findings on preferred employers. Surprisingly, four automotive manufacturers have landed spots among the top ten employers, despite the industry's ongoing job cuts.

The rankings aren't solely about job quality but also hinge on an employer's public image and recruitment strategies, according to the Trendence Institute. Traditionally known brands and public institutions dominate the ranking. Three public entities—the German armed forces, police, and somewhat unexpectedly, the Federal Employment Agency—are included in the top 25.

The public sector leads the overall preference, accounting for 28% of the mentions. Trade comes second, followed by the automotive industry. Interestingly, a decreasing preference for secure public employers amid the pandemic has been noted. For instance, the Federal Employment Agency and customs have slipped significantly in the last year. In contrast, trading companies like DM and Aldi Süd have become somewhat more attractive. However, the most desired trading company remains Amazon, positioned third.

Trendence surveyed 20,000 skilled workers online, asking them to identify potential employers. Most respondents were aged 35, having completed an apprenticeship, with some still in one and some holding higher education qualifications.

Enrichment Data:Notably, among German senior school students, Porsche, BMW Group, Mercedes Benz Group, and the Police were the top four employers in a previous survey [2]. More general insights suggest that factors such as salary, job security, work-life balance, meaningful job roles, and a positive work climate are often prioritized by skilled workers [2]. Employers that promote benefits like flexible working hours and childcare support, such as GIZ, tend to be popular among students [1].

  1. In light of the Trendence survey findings, it appears that some vocational training programs may align with the preferences of skilled workers, as the most desired trading company, Amazon, positions third.
  2. As for the community policy, it seems that the quality of an employer's recruitment strategies and public image, along with factors such as salary, job security, work-life balance, meaningful job roles, and a positive work climate, play significant roles in shaping the preferences of skilled workers.
  3. The shift in the preferences of skilled workers with regard to employment, as demonstrated in the Trendence survey, suggests that there might be opportunities for business growth in sectors offering vocational training, particularly in the context of the evolving lifestyle preferences influenced by technology and sports.
