Mercedes-Benz India is strategically focusing on its top-end luxury car portfolio to drive sales growth in the Indian market. This approach involves the launch of multiple high-end models, with eight new launches planned by 2025.

The company's strategy is centered on flagship luxury vehicles such as the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach series, EQS electric models, and AMG performance cars. This focus has resulted in a substantial 20% year-on-year growth in the top-end luxury segment in Q1 FY2026, contributing significantly to Mercedes-Benz's overall sales growth.

Key elements of the strategy include prioritizing top-end and core luxury models, leveraging strong macroeconomic factors, targeting increased sales momentum during the Indian festive season, and expanding the high-performance AMG lineup.

Mercedes-Benz India's CEO, Santosh Iyer, emphasized that although double-digit growth seen in previous years might not continue, flattish to single-digit growth remains achievable under this targeted portfolio strategy.

However, the auto industry in India has recorded muted sales in the first half of the year. Despite this, Mercedes-Benz India is optimistic about a turnaround in sales performance during the upcoming festive season, which is traditionally a prosperous time for the auto industry.

The Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe, priced around ₹1.35 crore (ex-showroom), is one of the high-performance models launched by the company. Other models available include the Mercedes-Benz EQA, EQS SUV, GLA, GLC, EQS, AMG EQS, and more, which can be compared and viewed with special offers on the company's website.

Iyer noted that while the growth momentum for luxury cars in India is not as high as in previous years, there is still flattish to single-digit growth. He also mentioned that the demand for luxury cars in India is flattish compared to last year.

Despite these challenges, Mercedes-Benz India's strategy seems to be paying off, as the company is witnessing growth in its top-end ultra-luxury car portfolio, contributing to the brand's overall growth in a volatile market condition.
