Starting this Thursday, a two-year renovation project will commence on the Elbgaustraße, a significant traffic route in the northwest of the city. The traffic authority has announced that vehicles heading towards Lurup will be redirected as a one-way street through the construction area near the Elbgaustraße S-Bahn station.
For drivers travelling towards Eidelstedt, a detour via Farnhornweg and Schnackenburgallee has been arranged, passing by the Barclays Arena and Volksparkstadion. The works are expected to be completed by the end of May 2027, with potential full closures in 2026.
Buses will be rerouted during this period, as the heavily used 1.8-kilometer section handles up to 36,000 vehicles daily, including many buses that stop at the Elbgaustraße S-Bahn station.
