Management Redesign
Paul Nemeth, a native of Böblingen and a long-time member of the state parliament, has been appointed as the new CEO of Lotto Baden-Württemberg, effective November 1, 2025. This follows the departure of current CEO, Georg Wacker, whose contract ends on July 31, 2025.
During Wacker's tenure, Lotto Baden-Württemberg has seen significant growth and development. Business development has reached a record high in game stakes, with the company generating €1.138 billion in 2024. Under his leadership, new products were developed, digitalization was advanced, and the focus on sustainability goals was strengthened. Key milestones include the comprehensive digital transformation and the introduction of new online products such as virtual slot machines and online casino games.
Wacker's contributions to Lotto Baden-Württemberg have not gone unnoticed. Gisela Splett, the chairwoman of the supervisory board, thanked him for his great commitment to the company. Over the decades, around 17 billion euros have been collected from lottery revenues in Baden-Württemberg.
Nemeth brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He has worked for a large IT company for decades and spent time in New York. His experiences in politics and administration as a former member of the state parliament add value, and the topic of sustainability has accompanied him since then. Paul Nemeth's connection to Tipico, a major sports betting operator, suggests that he has considerable experience in gaming industry management, focusing on responsible gaming and corporate sustainability practices.
Until November 1, 2025, Michael Grepl, the director of Lotto Baden-Württemberg, will serve as interim CEO. Nemeth expressed his enthusiasm for his new role and is well-prepared for it due to his professional background in state politics and the economy.
Lotto Baden-Württemberg is a state-owned company with around 200 employees in the central office at Stuttgart North Station. The company's guiding principle is that its proceeds should benefit the general public.
