Meta Overhauls Page Insights API: 'Impressions' to 'Views', 'Page Fans' Deprecated

Meta has announced significant changes to its Page Insights API. The 'impressions' metric will be replaced by 'views' across all API versions, and 'page fans' metrics will be deprecated. Developers must update their applications by November 15, 2025, to avoid standardized error responses.

Meta first announced these changes on August 15, 2025, citing the migration of all Facebook Pages to the new Pages experience as the reason for deprecating 'page fans' metrics. The company provides a 90-day notice period before implementation to help businesses prepare.

After November 15, 2025, API calls to deprecated metrics will return an 'invalid metric error' response. Applications calling deprecated metrics after this date will receive standardized error responses without fallback data. The deprecation is part of Meta's ongoing effort to align API functionality with the Facebook app and Meta Business Suite.

The 'impressions' to 'views' transition may affect historical comparison capabilities for marketers relying on impression-based benchmarks. Meta's developer changelog contains comprehensive implementation guidelines for affected integrations. Developers are advised to update their applications by November 15, 2025, to ensure uninterrupted service.
