Minister Visits Neckar-Odenwald District, Praises Modern Surveying Techniques

Dr. Christian Schneider, a high-ranking official from the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing, made a visit to the District Office of Neckar-Odenwald District on September 26, 2025. He was hosted by District Administrator Dr. Achim Brötel and spent time at the Neubaugebiet Buchen 'Marienhöhe', where he was greeted by Survey Director Herbert Frisch.

Dr. Schneider's visit included a comprehensive tour of the new development area. He was introduced to modern surveying techniques, such as the use of drones for precise measurements. This technology is transforming the way land is surveyed and mapped.

During his visit, Dr. Schneider gained a deeper understanding of the diverse tasks undertaken by the lower surveying authority of the Neckar-Odenwald District. These include managing the Property Cadaster, conducting property surveys, and overseeing land consolidation procedures. The authority plays a crucial role in maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of land ownership and usage.

A key highlight of the visit was the introduction of the information system Property Cadaster Files. This system is designed to digitize all cadaster files throughout the state, streamlining processes and improving accessibility to vital land records.

Dr. Schneider's visit provided valuable insights into the workings of the lower surveying authority and the progress of the Neubaugebiet Buchen 'Marienhöhe'. He emphasized the importance of geobasis data for fully digital work processes, location-based specialist information, and digital twins. This data is also crucial for securing property rights. The visit underscored the commitment of the Ministry to support and advance the work of local realtors in managing land and property.
