According to the National Statistical Committee, the standard of living of households in Belarus has seen an upward trend in the first quarter of this year.

The Committee's survey revealed that the average disposable resources for households monthly stood at Br2616, with cities recording a slightly higher figure at Br2749.8 and rural areas at Br2186.2.

Cash expenses per household amounted to Br2525.8 per month, with around 67.6% of this allocated to consumer goods. Specifically, families spent 38.4% on food, 34.2% on non-food items, and 25% on paying for services, accounting for just 6.9% on utilities.

The Committee also determined the number of low-income families in Belarus. In the first quarter, families living below the subsistence minimum (Br447.64 per person) accounted for 3.5% of the population, with a higher concentration found in rural areas at 5.7%. Traditionally, the eastern regions, particularly Mogilev and Gomel regions, have shown the highest numbers in this regard.

Furthermore, Belstat reported that Belarusians spent a total of Br31 billion between January and April in trade and catering facilities, representing a 10% increase compared to the same period last year. Retail trade accounted for 95.6% of these expenses, amounting to Br29.7 billion, and expenses in catering facilities for January-April 2025 increased by 4.8%.

While not detailed in the survey, it is commonly observed in many countries that a significant portion of disposable income—often around 30-40%—is spent on food, with varying shares for non-food goods and services, including utilities. For specific figures on the current expenditure shares in Belarus, it would be necessary to consult detailed household expenditure reports or Belarusian statistical releases focusing on consumption structure.
