Namibia Expands Visa on Arrival to 35 More Countries, Boosting Tourism and Trade

Namibia is set to expand its visa on arrival program, with plans to add 35 to 36 new countries. The exact countries and timeline remain unannounced. Meanwhile, the country is working to improve operations at its international airport.

Namibia currently offers visa on arrival to citizens of 90 countries. The new additions will bring this number to around 125 to 126. The list includes diverse nations like Åland Islands, American Samoa, and Andorra, as well as Caribbean and Pacific island countries. Notably, Haiti will be exempt from visa fees under the principle of reciprocity.

The cost of the e-Visa on arrival varies based on the traveler's region of origin and age. Different fees apply to African and other countries' citizens. Additionally, Namibia will introduce a service fee of 400 Namibian dollars (approximately US$23) for manual visa applications upon arrival. This change aims to streamline processes and reduce operational inefficiencies at Windhoek Hosea Kutako International Airport.

In a recent move, Namibia ended visa exemption for 33 nationalities, including major countries like the US, UK, France, Germany, Canada, and Australia. This change took effect on April 1, 2025.

Namibia's expansion of its visa on arrival program signals a commitment to facilitating tourism and trade with more countries. The changes in visa policies and airport operations aim to enhance the visitor experience and boost the country's economy.
