Nationwide housing expenses escalate, with certain areas experiencing an increase of up to 20 percent
Mainz Named Most Affordable State Capital in Germany for 2021
In a recent analysis by the Federal Association of Taxpayers (BdSt), Mainz has been declared the most affordable state capital in Germany for 2021. The annual ancillary costs for a similar household in Mainz are 1,433 euros, making it the most cost-effective among the 16 state capitals.
The analysis includes various fees and charges such as municipal trade tax, fees for drinking water, wastewater, rainwater, waste disposal, and public broadcasting fees. However, it does not include information regarding heating costs in the state capitals.
The analysis was conducted for a model household of three people living in a 120-square-meter single-family home on the outskirts of the city in each state capital. The average annual ancillary costs for such a household in the state capitals is 1,818 euros, an increase of 20 euros from the previous year.
Interestingly, no state capital in the analysis reported a decrease in annual ancillary costs for a similar household this year compared to last. This trend also holds true when considering heating costs, as the analysis did not provide a ranking of the state capitals based on heating costs for a similar household.
In the outskirts of the city, the annual ancillary costs for a three-person household in a 120-square-meter single-family home are not specified in this analysis. Similarly, the analysis did not examine the impact of heating costs on the overall ancillary costs for a three-person household in a 120-square-meter single-family home in the state capitals.
The analysis did not provide specific data on heating costs in the outskirts of the city in the state capitals either. It also did not compare heating costs between the city center and the outskirts of the city in the state capitals.
It's worth noting that rental costs in 14 out of 16 state capitals in Germany have increased this year compared to last. Dresden, Saxony, has experienced the highest increase in annual ancillary costs, with an increase of 78 euros from the previous year.
In western Berlin, residents have the highest annual ancillary costs, at 2,287 euros. However, the analysis did not specify whether heating costs were included in the ancillary costs for a three-person household in a 120-square-meter single-family home on the outskirts of the city in the 16 state capitals.
The analysis also did not provide a comparison of heating costs between the city center and the outskirts of the city in the state capitals. Furthermore, the analysis did not examine the annual ancillary costs for a three-person household in a 120-square-meter single-family home in the outskirts of each state capital.
In conclusion, while Mainz is the most affordable state capital in 2021, the analysis by the Federal Association of Taxpayers (BdSt) did not provide a comprehensive comparison of ancillary costs, including heating costs, across all state capitals. This leaves room for further research and analysis to provide a more complete picture of the cost of living in Germany's state capitals.
