Netherlands' Trade Value with Top 15 Partners Revealed in New Study
A new study, funded by Planbureau voor de Leefomgeving, reveals the trade value of key goods and services between the Netherlands and its top 15 trading partners for the years 2021-2022. The research, based on trade data linked to national accounts, offers insights into the bilateral trade dynamics.
The study selects data from a previous report by Statistics Netherlands, focusing on the 15 largest trading partners: Germany, Belgium, United Kingdom, France, United States, China, Italy, Spain, Poland, Switzerland, Sweden, Austria, South Korea, Japan, and Canada. Key exports from the Netherlands include machinery, chemical products, foodstuffs, electrical equipment, and services, while imports mainly consist of machinery, chemicals, fuels, food products, and raw materials.
The methodology employed in the study is based on the work of Aerts et al. (2021) and Lemmers & Wong (2019), ensuring a robust and reliable analysis of the trade data.
The study provides a comprehensive overview of the Netherlands' trade relations with its major partners, highlighting the significance of various industries in these bilateral trade dynamics. This information can guide policy decisions and foster stronger economic ties between the Netherlands and its trading partners.
