New industrial facilities set to launch in Almaty by year's end: 6 companies to establish operations
In Almaty's bustling industrial scene, six new productions are on the horizon, set to debut by year-end. This news came during an online briefing, hosted on the regional communication platform by Baglan Dandybayev, deputy akim of Nauryzbai District, as reported by Almaty.tv.
According to B. Dandybayev, the projected production volume stands at a staggering 4.1 billion, with retail and wholesale turnover reaching 5.8 billion and 1.5 billion respectively.
In an effort to resurrect idle enterprises with the assistance of TОО "Almaty Finance", an industrial park has been established in Nauryzbai District.
Baglan Dandybayev announced, "It's great to see the first industrial park opened right here in Nauryzbai District. This is a plot on Zhandosov Street, where financial aid was granted to the owners through the 'Almaty Business-2025' program by 'Almaty Finance'. New facilities totaling 3000 sq.m have been built on this plot. Currently, 5 productions are operational on these land plots, and we anticipate the opening of 6 more by the end of this year."
Currently, the industrial park is home to facilities producing stationery, leather goods, furniture, and even medical institution furniture.
Dandybayev also reported that work has commenced at TОО "Brot Master" in the "Kalkaman" microdistrict. This production had been dormant previously. At present, there are 3 functional operations: a workshop for producing drinks, dough, and coffee roasting. A total of 4200 sq.m worth of new production facilities are planned to be constructed on this land plot.
State programs aimed at business support have led to the execution of 2 projects in the district, with 3 more underway within the "Roadmap for Employment".
Investments for the first eight months of 2020 totaled 57.1 billion, representing a massive 72% increase compared to the previous year. Notably, a considerable portion of investments has been allocated for housing construction. Seven residential complexes with 7377 apartments are currently under construction in the district.
It's important to highlight that Kazakhstan's Almaty region has seen significant industrial activity recently, though not all developments are directly tied to a single "industrial park". For instance, the KT&G Tobacco Manufacturing Plant, (located near Almaty, in Kokozek village) is one of the region's largest recent manufacturing investments, with full export operations expected soon. This plant represents an investment of $134.9 million[3][4] across three production lines, capable of producing 4.5 billion cigarettes annually[3]. The plant aims to create over 130 jobs initially[4] and targets the CIS and Eurasian markets[4].
Other wider industrial efforts, while not tied to a named "Almaty industrial park", are underway. For instance, Kazakhstan's petrochemical push, centered in Atyrau and the National Industrial Petrochemical Technopark, may influence supply chains across various industrial zones, including Almaty[1]. Additionally, the nationwide adoption of robotic warehouses and smart systems, likely including Almaty facilities[1], is on the rise.
