Nominations for the 2022 Cocoa Awards initiated by Cocoa Post
The Cocoa Post, Ghana's recognized organizers of the annual cocoa industry excellence awards, have initiated the nomination process for the fourth edition of the renowned Ghana Cocoa Awards. This prestigious event aims to acknowledge and celebrate exceptional achievements by individuals and organizations within the cocoa value chain.
The Ghana Cocoa Awards was conceived to recognize and showcase outstanding performances across various sectors, including production, sustainability, marketing, technology, logistics, processing, manufacturing, value addition, promotion, tourism, media, and more. Apart from competitive categories, three honorary awards will also be presented to eminent personalities.
Submissions for nominations and entries will be accepted until October 14, 2022, via the designated online portal at www.ghanacocoaawards.com/nominate. Last year's event saw around 3 dozen organizations and individuals applauded in the competitive categories while three additional individuals were honored with honorary recognition.
Award recipients will be feted at the prestigious Ghana Cocoa Dinner scheduled for November 11, 2022, at Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, Accra. The event serves not only as an occasion to honor excellence but also as a networking platform for local cocoa industry players.
Kojo Hayford, Executive Director of Cocoa Post, commented on the resilience of the cocoa industry amid global challenges. He remarked that the Ghana Cocoa Dinner offers a platform for industry leaders to reflect and strategize for the upcoming season while networking.
Cocoa is a critical and leading agricultural commodity export in Ghana, sustained by over 800,000 smallholder farming families that annually produce around 800K metric tonnes. The Ghana Cocoa Dinner initiative aims to strengthen connections between downstream players and laud outstanding accomplishments in the local cocoa industry.
Previous winners of the Ghana Cocoa Awards include prominent figures like former President John Agyekum Kufuor, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Managing Director of Niche Cocoa Industry, Mr. Edmund Poku, who was awarded Cocoa Entrepreneur of the Year and Cocoa Personality of the Year on two separate occasions. The Chief Executive of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Joseph Boahen Aidoo, was also honored as the Cocoa Personality of the Year.
