Normal service resumes on south-bound trains following Saturday's derailment incident

Train services along the southern route in Thailand have resumed following the clearing of derailed cars and repairs to damaged tracks in Prachuap Khiri Khan province, overseen by the State Railway of Thailand.

Derailed Train Services Resume in Prachuap Khiri Khan

Train services in the southbound direction have returned to normal following a derailment incident that occurred in Prachuap Khiri Khan province on Saturday, August 9, 2025.

The derailment took place at approximately 5:15 am in the Kui Buri district, affecting the 38/46 train that was traveling from Sungai Kolok to Bangkok. As a result, three carriages derailed, causing injuries to 9–10 passengers.

The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) swiftly responded to the incident, removing the derailed carriages and repairing the damaged tracks. The repair work was completed on Sunday night, allowing the SRT to resume normal south-bound train services.

Investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the derailment. The SRT has announced that they will conduct a thorough examination to identify the reasons behind the incident. However, as of the latest reports, no definitive cause has been disclosed.

The SRT and relevant authorities express their deepest sympathies to those affected by the incident and are working diligently to ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers.
