Offshore wind farm project at Beatrice granted to Rovco

In a significant development, Rovco, a leading subsea technology company, has been awarded a contract to carry out work on Scotland's second largest operational offshore wind farm, Beatrice. This move marks a significant step in Rovco's continued expansion, as they bring their advanced subsea technology and tools to bear on the maintenance of offshore assets.

Rovco's approach to the Beatrice project involves the utilization of autonomous and remotely operated underwater vehicles (AUVs/ROVs) for subsea inspection and monitoring. These vehicles, part of Rovco's proprietary Aqua Retina® ROV fleet, enable remote and autonomous inspection and monitoring of subsea structures efficiently and with minimized environmental impact.

In addition, digital imaging and data analytics tools are employed for precision maintenance and condition assessments. This focus on digital technology aligns with Beatrice's core values and allows Rovco to provide a focused approach to the monitoring and reporting of asset and critical infrastructure conditions year-on-year.

The project will be delivered by Rovco's UK-based team and will involve survey work on all inter array cable and subsea jacket locations across Beatrice. This work will be coordinated with heavy lift operations and export cable repair conducted by specialized vessels such as the cable lay vessel North Sea Giant managed by NKT and Beatrice Offshore Winds Ltd (BOWL) acting as principal contractor[1].

Matthew Henderson, Subsea and Structural Engineering Manager of Beatrice Offshore Wind Farm, expressed satisfaction with Rovco's return for continued work on the Beatrice Wind Farm. The delivery of the project will support further full-time employment opportunities across the local region.

Rovco's work on Beatrice enables the wind farm to optimize through-life operational costs. This is a testament to Rovco's commitment to delivering efficient, safe, and timely completion of complex works with a strong safety focus.

The business' growth is further supported by the recently announced completion of a £15.2 million Series B funding round into the business. The Spring 2022 issue of our publication also includes a regional report on the renewable energy market in Asia, as well as technical articles on energy storage, wind, solar, waste-to-energy, and more.

Rovco has worked on over 50% of operational wind farms in UK waters. Their data quality allows Beatrice's teams to gain detailed insights into long-term integrity management requirements, further enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of the wind farm's operations.
