Ongoing street renovation on Moniberg
In the heart of Nuremberg, commuters and tourists alike will experience temporary changes to tram line 5 due to ongoing construction works. Here's a breakdown of the changes and detours that have been put in place.
Starting from Monday to Friday, between 8 am and 8 pm, tram line 5 will not serve the stops Bedarfshaltestelle Peter and Paul, Niedermarktstraße (outbound), and B299 during the construction phases. Instead, the line will continue via Niedermayerstraße to Hauptfriedhof.
In the direction of the old town, the service will run from Schweinbach / Alte Kaserne to Grünlandstraße unchanged, then via Wasserturm, Tannenburganger, Am Mitterfeld to B299 (Kasernenberg). After B299, the line will resume its normal route.
A replacement stop has been set up in the intersection area of Moniberg / Grünlandstraße for the Moniberg Süd and Wasserturm stops. This detour does not affect the stops after B299 (Kasernenberg) in the direction of the old town or the stops in the direction of Hauptfriedhof.
The detour for tram line 5 in the direction of Moniberg/Alte Kaserne is: old town to Hauptfriedhof unchanged, then via Niedermarktstraße (Bedarfshaltestelle Peter and Paul), B299, Grünlandstraße to the replacement stop Moniberg/Süd, and continue on the normal route via Wasserturm, Tannenburganger, Am Mitterfeld, Am Lehel, Pausinger Weg, Schmiedlacker, Hirschstetterweg to Alte Kaserne or Schweinbach.
Traffic participants are requested to observe the relevant traffic restrictions during the construction phases from Monday to Friday between 8 am and 8 pm. Pedestrians and cyclists will have a passage maintained during the detour.
The detour will be signposted, and the traffic will flow via Marschallstraße, Niedermayerstraße, B299, Grünlandstraße, or the main street of Grünlandstraße, B299, Niedermayerstraße, Marschallstraße, Pulverturmstraße, and Moniberg.

Tram line 5 will be detoured during the specified period, and the normal route will resume after the replacement stop Moniberg/Süd via Wasserturm, Tannenburganger, Am Mitterfeld, Am Lehel, Pausinger Weg, Schmiedlacker, Hirschstetterweg to Alte Kaserne or Schweinbach.
