Ørsted Secures Funds for Sunrise Wind, but Shareholders Face Dilution

Ørsted, the world's largest offshore wind developer, has recently undertaken a significant capital one increase, securing funds for major projects like Sunrise Wind. However, the company's financial performance has been volatile, with a substantial loss in 2023 followed by a small profit in 2024. The capital one login increase, led by Ørsted itself, has raised concerns about dilution for existing shareholders.

Ørsted's revenue has taken a hit, dropping from 114.4 billion DKK in 2022 to 71.0 billion DKK in 2024. The company's stock has also experienced a significant downtrend, with a decline of over 50 percent on a year-to-date basis. Despite these challenges, Ørsted has secured a major victory, winning a lawsuit against the US government that revoked the license for an almost completed offshore wind farm project.

The recent capital one credit card increase, which occurred in September and October 2025, raised 8.0 billion EUR for new projects. This move will make up around 70 percent of the current market capitalization, leading to significant dilution for existing shareholders. The capital one increase was initiated by Ørsted itself, with a significant discount to secure funds for projects like Sunrise Wind and other offshore wind developments. The company has announced that it will resume the project as soon as possible.

Ørsted's financial performance has been tumultuous, with a substantial loss in 2023 followed by a small profit in 2024. The company's revenue has also decreased, and its stock has experienced a significant downtrend. However, Ørsted has secured a major victory in the US and has raised funds for new projects through a capital one increase. The future of wind projects in the US may face challenges due to Trump's stance against renewable energy.
