Ottobeuren Raises Water, Sewage Rates from 2026

Ottobeuren's municipal council has voted to raise water supply and sewage contribution rates, effective from January 2026. The new rates were calculated and justified by expert Dagmar Suchowski, with 17 votes in favour and 2 against.

The water supply rate will increase to 2.79 euros per square meter of plot area and 12.05 euros per square meter of floor area. This is a significant rise from the previous rates of 1.30 euros and 5.40 euros respectively. The increase results in an additional 7.65 euros per square meter of floor area.

Sewage fees will be adjusted every four years, starting in 2026. Existing connections will pay 2.88 euros per cubic meter and 0.81 euros for stormwater. New connections will be charged 2.73 euros and 0.79 euros for stormwater.

Comparisons were made with Bad Grönenbach (9.01 euros per square meter) and Markt Rettenbach (15.00 euros per square meter) to contextualise the new rates.

The new water supply and sewage contribution rates in Ottobeuren will come into effect in January 2026. The increases aim to reflect the true cost of services and ensure sustainability. Other Bavarian municipalities, such as Türkenfeld, Aschau im Chiemgau, and Moosburg, are also adjusting their wastewater fees.
