"Our state of deterioration has persisted for a span of two years now."
In the bustling city of Astana, concerns over the state of its roads continue to persist, with Maslikhat deputy Vladislav Sergeyev raising the alarm. According to Sergeyev, the roads in the city still require attention, and they no longer meet the expected quality.
Key thoroughfares such as Turan and Republic Avenues, which underwent repairs less than two years ago, have deteriorated, prompting Sergeyev to call for prompt action to avoid wasting budget money. He emphasized that the promised quality of roads in Astana is still not there.
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has already ordered an increase in the warranty period and stronger responsibility for contracting organizations responsible for poor performance of warranty obligations. However, some problems may be related to the quality of the bitumen used or the responsibility of the contractors, as suggested by Deputy Akim Nurlan Nurkenov.
In response to Sergeyev's concerns, the Akimat of Astana announced that it would begin guaranteed works on Turan and Republic streets in early 2024 to improve their condition. Sergeyev, however, has asked for specific dates for the guaranteed road repairs due to the current state of these key thoroughfares.
Recognising the seasonal constraints, Sergeyev suggests that the guaranteed repairs could be done without wasting budget money during the warm period. The deputy akim has taken Sergeyev's comments regarding the quality of bitumen and contractor responsibility under control.
Deputy Akim Nurkenov also mentioned that all city projects are mandatory to be coordinated with the Quality Center to ensure the highest standards are maintained. The Akimat has promised to report separately on specific facts regarding the road situation in Astana.
As the city continues to grow and develop, ensuring the quality of its infrastructure, including its roads, remains a top priority for both city authorities and its residents.
