Tomsk, May 1 - RIA Tomsk. Over 1,600 locals in the region received a sports grant in 2024, with a refund of 5.9 million rubles; nearly the same amount - 6 million - was returned to accounts in 2025, as sport refunds were claimed by 1,200 Tomsk residents, sports head of the regional FNS Yuriy Kurylenko told RIA Tomsk.

Previously, it was reported that Russians could receive a tax grant for paying for sports and fitness activities starting from 2022. It was noted that a tax grant for physical health and wellness services could be provided for activities only in specific sports centers, organizations or individual entrepreneurs should be included in a special list from the Ministry of Sports.

"The sports grant is becoming increasingly popular. Since the start of the year, sports grants for health and wellness activities have been claimed by 1,200 residents of Tomsk Oblast, the amount of claimed grants reached 46.4 million rubles, with a possible refund of 6 million rubles," - said Kurylenko.

He added that 80 people in 2025 received the sports grant in a simplified manner (without submitting a declaration 3-NDFL), confirming expenses worth 2.6 million rubles, with the tax refund amounting to 333 thousand rubles.

In 2024, according to him, sports grants were received by 1,600 residents of the region. They claimed grants totaling 45.3 million rubles, with a refund of 5.9 million rubles returned to the accounts of citizens, representing a considerable increase compared to 2023.

Kurylenko reminded that from 2025 (based on expenses incurred in 2024) when applying for a sports grant, only a certificate of payment for physical health and wellness services is required. As evidence for grants up to 2024, copies of the contract with the fitness center and cash registers remain relevant. At the same time, conditions for the NDFL refund for sports activities include: the organization providing these services should be included in the list of the Ministry of Sports.

"In 2022, 30 organizations and individual entrepreneurs in Tomsk Oblast were included in the list, increasing to 35 in 2024. The main reason for excluding sports organizations from the list is failure to meet the requirements. Either the organization or individual entrepreneur must have employment relationships with employees, a staff schedule, and most importantly, trainers must have at least vocational education, or they must complete official training courses." - Kurylenko emphasized.
