The latest addition to Mineralnye Vody Airport spans an impressive 28,000 sq. m, with surrounding landscaped areas totaling nearly 43,000 sq. m, including Lermontov Park's 15,000 sq. m. This technologically advanced transport hub is set to boost the airport's annual passenger capacity from 2 million to a staggering 3.8 million.

Passengers can expect a pleasant and convenient journey thanks to modern equipment, intuitive navigation, high-tech security, and comfort systems. A team of dedicated professionals has meticulously crafted this modern marvel.

The captivating façade was designed by the renowned Japanese bureau NIKKEN SEKKEI, drawing inspiration from local influences such as Mount Elbrus, mineral water crystals, and the dynamic mountain landscape. The Spectrum Group, whose expertise spans technical design, project management, and interior design, played a crucial role in bringing this vision to life.

Building an air traffic control tower (ATCT) was a critical aspect of the project. With airport shutdown not an option, a temporary ATCT was erected, and all necessary air traffic management equipment was relocated. Only then could construction of the seven-story, integrated, and secure control tower begin, under the watchful eye of Alexander Volkov, Director of the 'Airports' sector at the Spectrum Group.

Executing engineering works on the terminal's square presented another significant challenge. Key challenges included reorganizing networks, dismantling, relining, and burying the stormwater reservoir, all without disrupting traffic or inconveniencing passengers. A phased work scheme was devised in collaboration with the general contractor and airport management to maintain accessible transport and visitor routes.

The Spectrum Group's team also dedicated their talents to designing the interior of public spaces and premium comfort lounges. The new terminal's layout seamlessly combines regional identity, functional design, and contemporary trends in aesthetics. From the departure hall to the VIP zone, every element is meticulously designed for ergonomics, passenger flow, and modern aesthetic tastes.

In essence, the Spectrum Group acted as the project's technical client, ensuring timely, high-quality completion within budget.

You may wonder why this airport modernization initiative is so important. On a broader scale, it's part of the Russian government's drive to upgrade airport infrastructure across the nation, aiming to address increasing passenger traffic, financial challenges, environmental concerns, and logistical hurdles through government support, technological advancements, collaborative planning, and adhering to international best practices.

We've only scratched the surface here; specific challenges faced and solutions implemented during the construction of the Mineralnye Vody Airport terminal can be found in detailed project sources.

The Spectrum Group, with its expertise in finance and industry, played a pivotal role in securing funding and managing the project, ensuring its timely, high-quality completion within budget.

With the airport's enhanced capacity, the growth in passenger traffic is expected to have a significant impact on the transportation sector, fostering economic development in the region.
