Pension Fund Launches €300m Impact-Focused Private Debt Mandate
Pension fund Pensioenfonds KPN, managing €11.2bn, has launched a significant focused private debt mandate worth €300m. The fund aims to deliver positive environmental and social outcomes while targeting risk-adjusted financial returns. M&G Investments has been appointed to manage this strategy, focusing on climate, biodiversity, and responsible production and consumption, aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The mandate, focused on biodiversity and climate solutions, will see M&G Investments provide corporate loans to businesses delivering positive environmental and social outcomes. The fund aims to contribute to its investment basics and ESG themes alongside a target risk-adjusted financial return. M&G has already made 12 investments under this strategy, including a recent commitment to Bollegraaf Group, a Dutch provider of advanced recycling technologies. The fund's investment and fiduciary manager, Aegon Asset Management, has played a crucial role in facilitating this focused initiative.
