Profit from Generosity: A Lucrative Strategy Revealed
Living a fulfilling life is on most people's wishlist. A life where needs are met, hobbies pursued, and financial stress is minimal. Wealth and abundance might mean different things to different folks; some might associate it with having a ton of cash, while others may see it as being comfortable and secure.
Regardless of one's perspective, the Bible suggests that being generous is the key to achieving abundance.
Giving to Receive
Struggling with daily meditation and Bible reading? Here's a simple hack I picked up years ago from a church leader. The Book of Proverbs consists of 31 chapters. Half the months have 31 days. Just open the good book, flip to the chapter matching the date, and voila! You've got your daily reading sorted.
In Proverbs 11, we find some insightful snippets on how to shape our lives. Verse 25 states, "A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed." (Proverbs 11:25 NIV). Later in the book, we learn more about generosity. Chapter 19 talks about helping the poor and God will reward you – a concept I discussed nearly a decade ago, if you're curious – check it out.
The message is clear: the best way to elevate yourself is to help others, breathe life into people, and encourage them. What goes around comes around, and being generous is always rewarded.
An Open Hand vs. a Clenched Fist
Around the same time as my previous blog post about helping the needy, I came across an interesting concept from Danny Wyrwas. He explained that when you receive something, you have two ways to hold onto it. You can clench your fist tightly, keeping it secure and ensuring no one else can take it away. Or, you can turn your hand over, with your palm up, and keep it in your possession that way.
The second option allows someone in need to take what you have, and others to add to what you already have. In the first option, no one can take what's yours, but it won't be added to either.
When we all work together, support each other, and refresh one another, we all benefit.
Claiming God's Promise of Prosperity
At the beginning of chapter 11, we learn that God hates dishonest scales – He considers them abhorrent. By the end of the chapter, we are encouraged to be generous – not just with our money but with our time, gifts, and talents.
So, look at your own life. How are you being generous? Where are you being stingy? What can you do better so you can claim God's promise that He'll repay your generosity and reward you for giving life to others?

Living a prosperous life aligns with the Bible's teachings, as shown in Proverbs 11:25 where it states, "A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed." (Proverbs 11:25 NIV) Being generous not only encourages others but also leads to personal benefits.
Generosity is a two-way street. By giving, we not only help those in need but also attract opportunities and blessings, as suggested in chapter 19 of the Book of Proverbs, where helping the poor is linked to God's reward for generosity.
