Putin Boosts Maternity Allowances for Students and Working Mothers
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law boosting maternity allowances for full-time students, effective September 1, 2023. The maximum monthly maternity allowance at 100% of average earnings will reach 258 thousand rubles by 2028, with childcare allowance also increasing.
The new law increases the maternity leave allowance for full-time students. However, specific figures for this allowance starting from September 1, 2021, were not found.
For working mothers, the maximum monthly maternity leave allowance at 100% of average earnings will rise from 207,5 thousand rubles in 2026 to 258 thousand rubles in 2028. The childcare allowance until the age of 1.5 will also increase, from 83 thousand rubles in 2026 to 103,2 thousand rubles in 2028.
The Russian government is enhancing maternity leave allowances, with increases planned over the next few years. While details for full-time students are not yet clear, working mothers can expect higher allowances to support them and their children.
