Rarity Lies Ahead for Japan's BMW X5 and X6 in the Form of the Shadow Edition

The German automaker, BMW, has unveiled two special editions of its iconic Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs), the X5 and X6, exclusively for the Japanese market. These limited-edition models, available in diesel and M Performance versions, promise to deliver an unparalleled driving experience.

Priced at 17,660,000 yen, the M Performance X6 M60i xDrive Edition Shadow is the most luxurious offering, limited to a mere 5 units, all finished in Individual Dravit Gray. This exclusive model boasts features such as a panoramic glass sunroof, upgraded leather, an M Sport exhaust, M Sport brakes with blue calipers, and M-themed seatbelts. The M60i also comes equipped with Individual Merino leather black seats and the 22-inch 742M wheels, not usually available for the Japanese-market X5.

For those preferring diesel power, the X6 Edition Shadow is available at a slightly lower price of 13,980,000 yen. This model, limited to 40 units, includes 35 units in Black Sapphire and the remaining 5 in Individual Dravit Gray.

The X5 xDrive40d, limited to 65 units and available in Black Sapphire, offers an alternative for those who prefer the X5. This model comes with the M Sport Package Pro as standard, along with the Shadowline treatment for a more sinister look.

The special editions of the BMW X5 and X6 also include black badges, crystal switchgear, and an Alcantara anthracite headliner. The equipment mirrors that of the standard models, including the previously unavailable wheels.

Interestingly, these editions cater to BMW's typical Japanese clients who are drawn to technologically advanced and exclusive models. These editions often incorporate advanced features such as Level 3 autonomous driving systems, which BMW has made available for the X5 and X6 since early 2024.

Order books for both Edition Shadow models of the X6 in Japan are open and close on October 16. With their limited production runs and exclusive features, these special editions are sure to be sought after by BMW enthusiasts in Japan.
