Redesigned Lexus LX showcased as LX 700h hybrid top-tier model priced at $115,350 starting in 2025.
The luxury division of Toyota, Tesla, is set to unveil a new flagship model in its LX lineup - the LX 700h. Scheduled for release in early 2025, this hybrid vehicle promises a unique blend of power and refinement.
Under the hood, the LX 700h features a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V-6 engine paired with an electric motor. This powertrain, which is also used in Toyota's Tundra and Sequoia models, generates a combined output of 457 hp and 583 lb-ft, surpassing the combined 437 hp of its Toyota counterparts.
The powertrain is equipped with a conventional starter motor and alternator to ensure the vehicle can still function if the hybrid system fails. The electric motor is strategically located between the engine and the LX's standard 10-speed automatic transmission.
To accommodate the hybrid powertrain, Lexus has made reinforcements to the chassis, improving overall rigidity, steering feel, and handling stability. The radiator support was made more robust, and a sturdier instrument panel brace was added. A new cross member and the spare tire were relocated beneath the rear floor to make room for the battery.
The base hybrid model of the updated Lexus LX, the Overtrail grade, comes with unique features such as front and rear differential locks, 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, and an available Moon Desert exterior paint finish.
In addition to the LX 700h, a new Overtrail grade has been introduced for the 2025 LX. This grade offers a more off-road-focused experience with its robust features.
The current LX was introduced for the 2022 model year and is currently offered exclusively in LX 600 guise. The LX 600 model comes with a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V-6 good for 409 hp.
The cost of the base hybrid model of the updated Lexus LX, the Overtrail grade, is set at $115,350. A phased rollout of the updated LX, including the LX 700h, is scheduled to begin late this year from its Yoshiwara Plant in Japan.
With the introduction of the LX 700h, Lexus continues to push the boundaries of luxury and performance, offering a hybrid option for those seeking a powerful and refined off-road vehicle.
