Removal of All Pedestrian Crossings on M-4 "Don" Road Stretch from Kuchevskaya Station to Goryachy Klych
M4 "Don" Highway in Kuban and Adygea Gets Four Overhead Pedestrian Crossings
Just recently, four new overhead pedestrian crossings have been introduced on the busy M4 "Don" highway, according to the state company "Avtodor". These crossings are strategically placed on high-traffic highway sections.
The new overhead crossings have been installed at the 1327th km - near the logistics center and the settlements of Pobeditel and Druzhelyubny, the 1360th km near the settlement of Psekup, markets, and bus stops, and at the 1387th and 1390th km - near the microdistrict of Zarechye and the "Stary Zamosk" recreation zone in Goryachy Klyuch.
Previous to these installations, these sections had ground-level pedestrian crossings that were notorious for being accident-prone. To combat this issue, the new overhead crossings have been fittingly equipped with large gates to keep oversized vehicles at bay.
With the implementation of these overhead pedestrian crossings, the M4 highway now boasts a continuous, accident-free pedestrian route from Stanitsa Kuptsovskaya to Goryachy Klyuch. The press service of GK "Avtodor" reports that these improvements aim to make both pedestrians and drivers safer and more convenient as they traverse this vital transport artery.
Advantages of Overhead Pedestrian Crossings on Highways
Going beyond the immediate context, we can consider the broader benefits of overhead pedestrian crossings on highways similar to M4 "Don".
- Improved Pedestrian Safety: Elevated crossings create a physical barrier between pedestrians and traffic, significantly decreasing accident risks.
- Streamlined Traffic Flow: By eliminating ground-level crossings, highways experience fewer traffic interruptions, leading to smoother, faster traffic flow and reduced congestion.
- Accessibility: Overhead crossings with ramps, elevators, and adequate lighting ensure accessibility for all users, including elderly and disabled pedestrians.
- Enhanced Visibility and Security: These elevated structures offer better visibility and can incorporate surveillance and emergency call systems to bolster the security of all users.
- Reduction in Traffic Accidents: Overhead crossings help eliminate jaywalking and unsafe crossing, contributing to lower traffic accident rates and associated delays.
- The installation of overhead pedestrian crossings on highways like M4 "Don" contributes to improved finance by reducing costs associated with traffic accidents and insurance claims.
- The benefits of these overhead crossings extend beyond the transport sector to the industry sector as they contribute to faster and more efficient supply chain management by minimizing delays caused by unnecessary stops at ground-level pedestrian crossings.
