Romania Awards First Major Highway Contract to SA&PE Construct-led Consortium
Romania has awarded its first major highway construct under the National Company for Road Investments (CNIR). The winning consortium, led by SA&PE construct S.R.L., will tackle the A8 Highway's Section 1C Sărățeni-Joseni, also known as the 'Union Highway'. The contract is valued at approximately EUR 1 billion (RON 4.94 billion).
The consortium comprises SA&PE construct S.R.L., Tehnostrade S.R.L., Spedition UMB, and Euro Asfalt. Notably, Spedition UMB, a Romanian company, leads the consortium in planning and constructing this crucial section of the highway. The A8, once completed, will significantly improve connectivity between Romania and the rest of Europe.
The awarding of this contract marks a significant step in Romania's infrastructure development. The consortium, led by SA&PE construct S.R.L. and involving Spedition UMB, is set to commence work on the A8 Highway's Section 1C, with an estimated budget of EUR 1 billion.
